Don’t be a Buzzkill
Creating a product that helps to combat and raise awareness of the current bee decline.
Making a difference
It is alarming that the bee population in Britain has significantly declined over the past fifty years. Thirteen types of bees have gone extinct in the UK in the last two decades, and another 10% of wild bee species are at risk of disappearing within the next five years. Motivated by this, I tasked myself with finding a way to help combat and raise awareness about this important issue.
The Product
"Don't Be a Buzzkill" is a compact and thoughtful package designed to raise awareness and encourage action to help save our vital bee population. This collection includes an informative booklet, eye-catching posters, engaging postcards, and a handy zine filled with actionable tips and insights. Perfectly sized to fit through a standard mailbox, Don't Be a Buzzkill aims to make learning about and supporting bees convenient and accessible to everyone. This comprehensive resource empowers individuals to play a part in protecting these important insects and preserving our ecosystem.
In addition to this, I also developed a app to further support bee conservation efforts. This innovative app features a handy bee identifier tool that provides detailed information about every bee species in the UK, including its level of commonality, preferred nesting habitats, and practical tips for aiding its survival. Users can also contribute to the Great British Bee Count charity by submitting photos of bees they encounter, helping to maintain an annual record of bee species across the country.
